I need a new email service that works thru Internet Explorer. I have Yahoo now- very bad spam; no way to fix?

Yahoo mail resides on the Yahoo server so there is no way to apply spam filtering. I paid $20 for their enhanced service but still get 20 - 30 spam msgs per day in the inbox

its not your mail provider that generates 'spam'. Spam is the result of someone with a commercial interest getting hold of your email address and selling it. once this occurs, the process replicates at an exponential rate, which is when you get to the situation you're in now. If you like yahoo, the simple solution is just to register a new address with them. However, with whatever new address you set up, be very careful about who you give your email address to. For example, if a website is asking for your email, make sure they have a privacy policy that states they will not disclose your email address to any third party (any reputable website will provide this assurance).

Reply:yahoo has a spam blocker. it sends spam to a seperate folder. i cant remember how to set it up now but if u go to your mail it should be there in one of the menus. trust me it works great
Reply:First off - spam is a nightmare. I worked for an ISP up until a few months back and more than half our bandwidth on dial up customers was spam mail. Even after we cranked up our spam filter, it was still bad.





You can get a gmail account thru google, which has pretty decent filtering. Gmail also allows POP email access, which means you can use a mail program like Outlook, Incredimail, etc... which gives you more options for spam filtering on your end.





The best practice is this -





Make sure your email has mixed letters and numbers (harder to randomly spam), and don't ever sign up for ANYTHING with your email address. Once one mailing list gets the address, 2 more get it, then 2 more get those, etc... Newsletters, jokes of the day, all that garbage will get you a ton of spam.
