Can an ISP service provider locate the exact address where an anonymous email was sent from?

There is a person sending an anonymous email to my work. They are making disparaging remarks about me. Can I obtain the exact location of where that email is coming from?

only the police would be able to access such information. It can be tracked but unless it's involved in a criminal case, nobody is going to help you.

The police would have to take the sender's e-mail address and contact the company that owns that e-mail (i.e. yahoo, gmail, hotmail, etc)...they would have to have a subpeona to get that user's account information and to find their IP address, they could then trace the IP back to a specific ISP which would then require another subpeona to get that user's information. The person could be using an anonymous surfing program on their computer which would prevent anyone from tracking them though, so you are out of luck.
