How do you know if someone is really reading the email you send them? Whats that service that does this?

I've heard of an email service so that when you send someone an email you put like an ID in the email and you can check to see if the person you sent the email to actually read it or is just ignoring you?





I know there is a small company that offers this service?

Reply:Check "return receipt" in the options when you send your email, and you will get a message back when he reads it (if he allows the message back to be sent).





The devious way is to embed a hidden image, and track if and when someone accessed it from your server.
Reply:Just be aware though that read receipts can be turned off in the other persons email program. Myself, I always turn read receipts off. But that is just my preference.
Reply:I believe this depends completely on the mail server you are using to send your email, AND the mail server that the person is using to receive your email. For example, if you are both using the same server (such as a University account), you should have the option to receive a "Read Receipt" once the other person actually opens the email you send. The server recognizes that he/she has opened your email, and then immediately sends you an email saying, "SoAndSo has read your email."





You would have to check with your individual email program/service to see if this option is available. I believe AOL offers this option. I do not think Yahoo! offers it. But, again, the person receiving the email must be using the same mail server as you. Otherwise, their own mail server probably would not send you that kind of personal information...
